Title:100 Years of Lynchings |
First published in 1962, 100 Years Of Lynchings is as relevant today as it was then. It presents the reader with vivid newspaper accounts of a "red record of racial atrocities." It is a simple and straightforward presentation. Lacking narration, the news articles speak for themselves. Through them we witness a history of racial atrocities that we cannot afford to forget. Ginzburg skillfully selected articles from a wide range of papers, large and small, radical and conservative, White and Black. Through them, he has created a documentary of Lynchings. The collection of articles which extend into the 1960s provides a sobering view of American history. Few who read the book will remain unaffected by this view.

In 1967, this revolutionary work defined a phrase that had become a central part of the civil rights vocabulary. In BLACK POWER, Stokely Carmichael and Charles V. Hamilton exposed the depths of systematic racism in this country and provided a viable political framework for reform. African-Americans could no longer afford to believe that their liberation would come through traditional political process: true and lasting social change would only be accomplished through their unity and independence from the pre-existing order.

Title:Haile Sellassie I |
Always controversial during his lifetime (1892-1975), Haile Sellassie became after his dethronement in 1974, a political icon to some, a monster to others, and to all a legend. There is no understaning modern Ethiopia without a grasp of the emporor's life. This first volume of a projected three-volume biography describes Haile Sellasse's early training as a member of a cultural and political elite, a condition that led him to believe it was normal for an elite to govern and exploit Ethiopia, even if many of its people did not benefit from the prevailing order. Once he became emperor, he viewed himself as the embodiment of Ethiopia's proud sovereignty and independence.

Title:The Valley of Dry Bones Book 2 |
The Valley of the Dry Bones: The Conditions That Face Black People in America, by Rudolph R. Windsor, is a fascinating compilation of history, anthropology, sociology, and theology. In clear, limpid prose, Windsor tells the history of the black people, from biblical times until today. Drawing extensively upon the Bible and many works by eminent scholars in various disciplines, the author has created a work that is at once inspiring and intriguing.
He seeks to prove that the black people, more properly called "Black Israelites," are truly God's chosen people and, as such, should become more aware of their unique heritage.

Title:Democracy Matters |
DEMOCRACY MATTERS is Cornel West's bold and hard hitting critique of the troubling deterioration of democracy in America in the threatening post-9/11 age--and a powerful and inspiring call for the revitalization of the deep democracy tradition in our country, which has waged a war on the forces of imperialist corruption throughout our history. Americas must take back our democracy, and in this brilliant and moving call to arms, Cornel West shows the way.
